FREE: SECOND CHANCE (Supernatural Thriller)

Every night, Bisi drove the Lekki Expressway for her part-time Bolt job. Midnight runs paid well, but the eerie silence always left her uneasy. Lagos never truly slept. Yet some nights, the roads felt abandoned, swallowed by darkness.

Tonight, a request popped up: Omoge.
The pickup? An old church she usually avoided.
But the fare was high. She accepted.

When she arrived, the street was deserted. No movement. No passenger. Just as she sighed, ready to cancel, a woman stepped out from the shadows. She was draped in white, her skin startlingly pale beneath a wide-brimmed hat that hid her face.

White Garment? This late? Bisi wondered.

“Victoria Island,” the woman said softly as she slid into the backseat.

Something about her made Bisi’s skin prickle. She shook it off and started driving.

The woman sat unnervingly still, her pale hands folded neatly in her lap, posture too perfect.

Bisi kept glancing at the mirror, expecting her to shift or check her phone. She didn’t. The silence stretched.

Halfway through the trip, the woman finally spoke.

“Do you believe in second chances?”

Bisi hesitated, fingers tightening on the wheel.
“I… I guess so. Everyone deserves one.”

A faint smile ghosted across her face. “Not everyone.”

Unease twisted in Bisi’s gut. City lights grew brighter as they neared the drop-off. She cleared her throat and glanced back.

The backseat was empty.

Air punched out of her lungs. The door hadn’t opened. She’d heard nothing. Yet the woman was gone.

Her hands shook as she stopped at a red light, barely noticing the impatient honk behind her.

The light turned green. She didn’t move. Still in shock.

Another honk. Then the car behind her swerved and sped past.

A deafening crash tore through the night.

A trailer roared through the intersection, slamming into the car that had just passed.
Metal screamed. Glass exploded.

Bisi stared, breath shallow.
If she had moved when the light turned green…

Her phone buzzed in her lap.

She flinched, dragging her gaze from the wreckage. A notification blinked across the screen:

Thank you for the ride.
You’ve been given a second chance.
